Gameiro gets goals as partnership with Rodrigo blossoms
Kevin Gameiro and Rodrigo Moreno have demonstrated an impressive understanding in preseason so far, and they combined well once again in the match against Bayer Leverkusen.
The pair created four chances in the early going, and picked apart the German side’s defence. Roddrigo would be brought down in the area in the first half on one foray forward, and Gameiro was the player entrusted with the resulting penalty kick. The Frenchman converted to give his side the lead, and replicate a previous spot kick scored against Bayer in 2017 in the Champions League at the BayArena.
Gameiro would score again in the second half, off a direct approach on goal from a pass by Diakhaby. The striker -who also found the net against Sporting CP last weekend- is the club’s top scorer in preseason so far, ahead of Rodrigo as the two continue to impress this summer.
